I just received the following message in a forwarded e-mail:

Dear Friends,

Just a quick note to tell alert you to two things and ask you for a small favor.

First, if you’re able, please tune in TONIGHT to the Rita Cosby television show on the FOX News Channel at midnight Eastern Time (9:00 p.m. Pacific). I’ll be one of several guests in studio discussing the life and legacy of our beloved Pope John Paul II.

Second, please tune in to the EWTN live show “The Journey Home” TOMORROW evening (Monday, April 4) at 8:00 p.m. Eastern (5:00 p.m. Pacific). I’ll join my friend Marcus Grodi to discuss the tumultuous and deeply emotional events of the past few days, as well as what we can expect to see in the coming weeks with the election of the new pope. (Yes, we will be taking viewer phone calls and e-mails.)

And third, here’s the favor I’d like to ask you: Please pray for me that during these shows I’ll be able to clearly and effectively share my thoughts in a way that will honor Christ and the Church and, of course, the memory of the Holy Father.

Happy Feast of Divine Mercy! May the Lord bless you all.

Your friend in Christ,

Patrick Madrid

P.S. Feel free to let your friends know about these shows, too. I think they’ll both be lively, interesting, and informative.

Well I NEVER miss The Journey HOme but I thank you for the heads up on the Fox news show tonight. I am so glad we have someone who is positive and orthodox to give a tribute to Pope John Paul II.

I usually just listen to The Journey Home on radio, but will try to get home early tomorrow night to watch in online via streaming video. We don’t have cable TV since we rarely watch it (though I’ve been tempted to get it for EWTN alone). Does anyone know if I can watch Fox online? I tried to figure it out the other day but didn’t see where I could watch it.

Thank you for letting us know. I always watch both shows and look forward to them especially now!

Also - I’d like to ask your opinion, Patrick, if you’re reading these responses, or anyone else’s opinion on this matter.

I’m seeing so many people around the world holding vigils for the Pope, churches overflowing, people in tears. I’m not seeing this reaction, for the most part, in the United States. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. But, I have to say I’m surprised at the lack of emotion in my own parish. We’re having a Mass for the Pope on Tuesday night. I’m curious to see how many people actually attend.

Why do you think this is in the United States? I think it’s very sad.
