What should you do and what should you not do on a Sunday? Is it okay to watch football with my family? Is it okay to go to a baseball game with my brother and/or dad? Is it okay to go to a restaurant with family? Is it okay to go to the shooting range with my dad and/or brother? Is it okay to spend time just relaxing even if there is no prayer or family activity involved? Is it okay to go to there store?

In my opinion it is alright to do any of the things you mentioned. I think that the only important thing is to go to church on Sunday and then you have met your obligation and can do whatever you wouls normally do any other day without fear of sin. (sinful things excluded)

I think there are limits though. Like working excessively perhaps.

Well I’m not sure you should just do whatever you want. The day is supposed to be kept holy. There are question like is it wrong to watch a football game on TV on Sunday because it encourages them to work on Sunday? Is it okay to order a pizza since that would make someone work?

I understand that from viewing previous posts you have problems with over scrupulousity. I have this problem too. I have noticed that when I fuss over these problems too much it makes me irritable and makes me not feel as I should about my faith. Sometimes you just got to allow yourself those things that are really trivial eg. watching tv.

I see no problems watching tv or ordering a pizza. Just draw a line. You no in your heart what the line is. Youd probably be uncomfortable and feel guilty for going on some sort of shopping spree, right? So dont go that far. I dont think that a day like Sunday should be ruined by being unneccessarily concerned about trivial matters. But dont get me wrong, I now how you feel. Its just easier to comment on others than myself at times. 🙂

However, maybe you are being lead to a more spiritual life of reading and prayer, then this may be a different story. But I think, that if you are a type of person that is not so spiritual or prayerful yet, there is no point in preventing yourself from certain enjoyments (like watching tv) that would otherwise ruin a positive day. Sometimes doing those things actually keep you out of trouble and temptation, and can definately be a time for bonding.

In no way am I speaking with any authority here, just giving you a view to think about. 🙂

I don’t think making millions of dollars to do something fun counts as work so watching them play on tv seems fine even if you think you should not work on Sunday. The only problem with football is if it interferes with your obligation to go to mass. If you don’t get up on time to go to mass in the morning, saying you want to watch your favorite football team and it is going to overtime and therefore you decide to be late to the afternoon mass would not be an excuse, though I have probably been guilty of that before.
