Prv 9:1-6

Wisdom has built her house,
she has set up her seven columns;
she has dressed her meat, mixed her wine,
yes, she has spread her table.
She has sent out her maidens; she calls
from the heights out over the city:
“Let whoever is simple turn in here;
***To the one who lacks understanding, she says,
Come, eat of my food,
and drink of the wine I have mixed!
Forsake foolishness that you may live;
advance in the way of understanding.” ***

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7

R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the LORD;
the lowly will hear me and be glad.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Glorify the LORD with me,
***let us together extol his name.***I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
R. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Look to him that you may be radiant with joy,
and your faces may not blush with shame.
When the poor one called out, the LORD heard,

Eph 5:15-20 **

Brothers and sisters:
Watch carefully how you live,
not as foolish persons but as wise,
making the most of the opportunity,
***because the days are evil. ***
Therefore, do not continue in ignorance,
but try to understand what is the will of the Lord.
And do not get drunk on wine, in which lies debauchery,
but be filled with the Spirit,
addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts,
giving thanks always and for everything
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

Gospel
Jn 6:51-58**

Jesus said to the crowds:
“I am the living bread that came down from Heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh for the life of the world.”

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
“How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
***unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day. ***For my flesh is true food,
and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me
will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from Heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

*Wisdom is available to all who seek it…

We are to be careful how we live “because the days are evil”…

Whoever eats the consecrated Host will live forever… Jesus wants to be not only in our hearts and minds and souls but in our bodies…

yet many can not accept His teaching…

they don’t know what they are missing… *

“…singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts,
giving thanks always and for everything…”

This line from the 2nd reading goes like this in my missal:
“Go on singing to the Lord in your hearts, so that always and everywhere
you are giving thanks to God.”
–This made me think of Paul’s “command” to “pray constantly”.
Maybe this is the answer to how it is done.

“the one who feeds on Me
will have life because of Me”
–There was no one in the crowd who was murderous enough to kill Him
and start eating Him right then and there. Even after He was killed,
not one person said, “well, He said we should eat His body and drink
His blood…” and start eating Him. Somehow they all knew that He
meant something else, unlike the savages who attacked St. Isaac.
I wonder if Jesus made no attempt to “explain Himself” because He
was mad at the people who were to kill Him? What if He wasn’t
actually able to forgive them until there on the cross?

interesting thought… about how they didn’t try to canabalize him… God wouldn’t have let that happen anyhow…

but there is no way Jesus was so angry he couldn’t forgive… at least i don’t think so… I think Jesus is forgiveness Incarnate… just as He is Love incarnate, justice incarnate… Truth Incarnate… Purity, etc…

even so i believe Jesus FELT what we feel when people treat us the way they treated Him… I think He went through everything we could possibly go through, if only in his mind/heart… but that’s just my personal thing, don’t know what the Church says…

I just think Jesus kinda had to go through all that we would/could go through to understand us totally, to be able to empathize with us… Empathy encourages forgiveness like nothing else…
if we could just look at an “unforgivable” person and see ourselves, see our own battles, weaknesses, etc… we could forgive anything… too bad thats virtually impossible…

but with God all things are possible…

If you want to see Jesus in others, first look in the mirror, if the reflexction dosen’t remind you of Jesus, you may have a hard time seeing Jesus in others. Jesus works through us, in our hearts, with our hands through our eyes. Jesus can work among your family and friends mostly through you. That is why He said hat he would be with us always, through each of us.
Our Father lent us our bodies, and if we teach it to love honor and to serve Him and our neighbor, He will give it back to us on the last day.

yes, sometimes when i feel i am useless to God, i have to remind myself that He works through me, limitations and all…

sometimes all i see is my limitations… but i have to tell myself that God can use ALL of them… every single one …

i don’t always see the results of the work i do for God… and so i get discouraged… but my job is to plant seeds… That is the job of all of us Christians… to plant seeds that we may never see grow or produce…

so why can’t i be happy with that?? Well, i kind have to be…

“Wisdom” in Proverbs is usually considered to be Our Lord.
I like to think of the seven columns as the seven sacraments of the Church ---- the “house’” built on a rock; "on this rock I will build my Church.
(I have seen the seven columns interpreted as the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit also.)
The verses that follow “seven columns” certainly seem to speak of the Eucharist.
