Warning: scrupulous person with a question.

I was very excited about the season premier of Doctor Who tonight (well, for us in Canada at least) and wanted to watch it on TV, but then I thought it might go against my Sunday obligation.

I read here that celebrating Sunday begins on Saturday night (which makes sense due to Saturday evening Mass), so I began thinking that Sunday obligation also begins on Saturday evening.

Is it wrong to watch television for entertainment on Saturday evening? I worry about this since, if Sunday obligation begins Saturday night, I do not want to be showing support to a television network making employees (I do not know how television stations work, but I assume there are programmers present) work when they should have the time off. Should I worry about this, or is it alright for employees to work to keep television on air?

Even if it is not wrong for that reason, would watching science fiction be an improper way to spend Saturday night? What I am asking is whether it is morally wrong or not, not whether or not you watch stuff like that 😛

Thanks in advance!

No, I don’t believe anything is wrong for you or them, as long as they go to Mass at some point on Saturday night or Sunday, I don’t believe it is a sin.

No, unless you really feel that it is interfering with your relationship with God. I don’t think a couple hours of tv would do that.

Also, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who’s excited for Doctor Who tonight. 😃 I’m still trying to figure out whether I’ll be able to watch it online (maybe by tomorrow at least).

This is pretty scrupulous. As long as you attend Mass you can do whatever you please to enjoy the sabbath or vigil day before the sabbath. I remember once I went to a Penn State game on a Saturday, A New York Yankees game on Sunday and went to Mass 9:30 Sunday night…I got really sunburned by that was an awesome weekend! :clapping:
