This is not the entire Gospel. However, these are some of the most powerful words.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be
through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Note: For the Bible study found at the second link in the worthy Quaere Verum’s first post (and in my signature below), I’ve chosen to focus this year on the Gospel reading for Midnight Mass (Luke 2:1-14). This is because I thought it was the most “Christmasy” of the possible selections and also I’ve never done this one before. If you’re looking for it, it should be posted later tonight when my webmaster (aka my DW) comes home from work!

*** In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled.**

Isn’t it wonderful how God could use sinful men, like Caesar who called himself the Son of God, to bring about His Plan of Salvation?

Glory be to God in the Highest! Amen!

For one of the best bible studies I’ve seen on Christ’s pre-public ministry days, read Dawn of a New Era by Edward Sri.

I would also highly recommend reading the opening pages of “Life Of Christ” by Fulton Sheen and “To Know Christ Jesus” by Frank Sheed. I read them every year around Christmas-- What marvelous food for mediation on the birth of our Lord!
