It’s super bowl Sunday

Coming from the other side of the Atlantic, where we seem to spell many words slightly differently from the North American way, I have to say that I do not know what a “super bowl” actually is. I do have a (slightly chipped) “supper bowl” from which I occasionally eat muesli in cold milk about an hour before I fall asleep in the evening, but I do not restrict it to Sunday only. Do you think however, that they may be similar?
