Anyone watching the new series Supergirl?

I’ve been a fan of Superman’s cousin since the early '80s … through her 1984 movie that was a critical and box-office flop (that nevertheless remains a guilty pleasure), her 1985 death in the Crisis on Infinite Earth limited series, and the various revivals of the character since. (I will say, though, I dropped the mid-2000s comics series after a few issues, because I thought it was getting a bit too suggestive.)

I am enjoying the new series … glad to finally see the Girl of Steel done justice in live-action. Melissa Benoist is excellent in the title role, IMHO. And Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, the boss of Supergirl’s alter-ego Kara, does a fair amount of scene-stealing … she’s the kind of character that makes you want to roll your eyes and say, “That woman!!!” (If you take my meaning.) 😃

What does anyone else think?

I keep forgetting to watch but from the sounds of it Superman and Supergirl et al never grow old.

I haven’t watched it, but I might, since it comes on right before Scorpion!

Watchede the first episode. Can. Not. Stand. It.

My only consolation is that since it is on CBS and since it is a sad attempt of a superhero show of which the market is saturated… It will not last long…

I liked the first couple episodes but it conflicts with Major Crimes.
I did like the interaction between here and her boss about Supergirl vs. Superwoman and when she was trying on different “super” costumes. One she rejects, “Not. Even. At. The. Beach.”

The problem with Supergirl is the same as Superman – no one ever recognizes him/her? Especially in these days of face recognition technology?

At least throw me a plausibility bone.

I am not into any kind of superhero show/movie/comics at all. I have, however, watched this a couple of times because Melissa Benoist is fresh-faced and lovely; I’d seen her somewhere before, and remembered it was on a season of Glee.
