I have a friend who is “born again.” He’s trying to “save” me by sending me those inspirational bible verses and sayings where you have to send it to 9 other people and within a few mins something good will happen to you. I’m trying to think of a way to explain to him that these things are superstitious and he needs to be careful. Hes fairly new to Christianity and I don’t want to say anything that will upset him or embarrass him.

I’ve looked around the net, but I can’t really find anything to help. I thought I’d come here and ask since I’ve always gotten the best information here.

Thank you and God bless 🙂

That’s beautiful. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. God bless you.

I think sharing a message and evangelising is good but making good fortune promises really isn’t.

I always hated chain letters when I was in high school or in my 20’s. I have never heard of one regarding Bible verses though. But I agree they are superstitious, especially the ones that warn something bad will happen if you don’t send letters to a certain number
of individuals.

Blessings,
I have asked friends not to send chain letters. Some of messages or pictures are nice attached to note saying send to 10 friends in 5 min. I enjoy the prayer or picture and send it back to sender only.
God bless you

I would perhaps gently encourage him to just send the inspirational part of the message (if he felt so inclined) and delete the superstitious part. If it’s something worthy to be shared, it should be shared on its own merits, not because of some promises of prosperity or veiled threats of misfortune.

Those things get your personal information and who knows where it goes from there. Folks know better than to send me chain letters, even before the internet.
