Hi there, I wondered, as an indoctrinated Protestant seeking membership in the Roman Catholic Church, am I being superstitious with this experience?
I was praying with a beautiful rosary given to me by an elderly lady. It broke and I began using a wooden one given to me by a Polish nun, a missionary to South America and my experience has been much clearer. Is there something to this?

Maybe maybe not.

Could be coincidence

Could be signal Graces

It would probably be better to consult a local roman priest.

God love you.

Absolutely :). I did fix it :). I had wondered if perhaps one had been blessed and one not. Silly question, sorry 🙂

Not a silly question at all. Heck, I was afraid to even pray a rosary early in my Conversion!

Oh good! Yes, I found it scary when I started. Especially as my immediate family is not supportive. My father in law questioned my salvation when using the rosary :(. Impressionable as I am, sigh that was a blow for a bit. But that is what I found with the second rosary, by the 4th decade, of any of the mysteries, I have a confidence in approaching the throne with Our Blessed Mother.

I don’t think it makes any difference whether a Rosary has been blessed or not. It’s what’s in your heart while you’re praying it. If you want to have it blessed, I’m sure your priest will bless it for you. But if not, don’t worry about it.

The first rosary that broke, was it a cheap plastic one?

Thank you for your response :). I am just learning, and am beyond excited! I believe after asking this and continuing with the rosary, it is just the Mercy of Jesus’ Sacred Heart. It’s just changing me!

Hi there CarmeliteKnight! I am reading St. Therese of Lisieux’s writings presently, I believe she was a Carmelite nun? Is that the correct way to say it? Anyway, it isn’t a plastic one, and in fact I was able to fix it myself. It is just a beautiful chain with almost onyx looking stones that have an opalescent look. I love both my rosaries as I am recognizing it is the intention with which you are seeking this union of sorts, this call for Our Blessed Mother to pray with us, while we bring glory to Our Father and Our Savior in heaven. Oh such Mercies and Grace surround the Church.

OP. When a rosary breaks and you loose one of the beads and you can’t find one of the same kind, you can always change the OF beads to a different colour/size and then you will have some spare “Mary” beads for when the rosary breaks the next time. Getting other replacement parts is relatively easy now as making your own jewellery is in fashion.

Yes, the little flower is a Carmelite.

And thats great it was easily fixable. It would be a shame to see a good rosary be irrepairable. And God love you for finding such joy in our lady’s rosary. If you dont have one already, I would highly suggest getting a brown scapular to wear. The rosary and the brown scapular go hand in hand like a sword and a shield.

Oh thank you so much! I saw the brown scapular in an ad and I would like to get one. Is online the best way? Thank you to everyone for such encouragement and advice and hope! Pax

I love St. Therese, the little flower! I am trying to live that way presently, little sacrifices, as I also, have a temper. But I can become quarrelsome so this practice helps with that greatly!

That is so beautiful! I didn’t know that. I didn’t lose a bead but f I do in the future I will do just as you said, keep Mary beads…how beautiful.

Oh yeah you could always buy one online. If your Parish has them then you could always get one from them. If there’s a Carmelite Monastery or Cloister of nuns they usually have some. Or you can always just make your own.

And whichever way you obtain the scapular, make sure to get enrolled. It’s just a little 30 second blessing, you say a couple amens, the priest sprinkles you with holy water stuff like that. This way you become fully invested in the scapular and the promises our lady brings with it.

And God love you on your spiritual pilgrimage. Remember it’s a lifelong Marathon not a Sprint, so don’t get too worried that things aren’t going your way. Just keep working on building up those virtues in you’ll be all set in no time.
