Surrender Prayer

Hi,

I would like some help understanding a surrender prayer. I recently came across one on the internet that included the line “I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me”. Now that I have read/prayed that prayer does that constitute a private vow or was this just a moment of prayer? Does a private vow take time and deliberation to make or can you sort of accidentally make one in a spur of the moment prayer?

I do not know how I can honestly pray “I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me” without knowing some specifics of what that means.

For example, If I pray this prayer with good intentions and then later I have to choose between two non-sinful things like taking a new job or keeping my current job and decide I want to choose an option which I am I do not feel like is the one God is leading me towards but am free to choose, have I now broken a private vow?

This prayer sounds like a trap to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also- Yes I have a regular confessor that I see for spiritual direction and plan on discussing this with him.
