From that PDF you posted:
…If those without a horde of toilet paper start using items such as,
sanitizing hand wipes, heavy duty paper towels, printer paper and other
substitutes for real TP (i.e. paper products not specifically designed to be
flushed), these substitutes for real TP will clog the residential plumbing
lines as well as the muni sewer system (see tweet from a city in CO)
People need to be TOLD this? Lord, have mercy on us and on the whole world…

Those of us who have traveled in countries where the plumbing is not so good know to just throw our TP or whatever is being used into the trash bin and not be trying to flush it all. Half the time it doesn’t even go down anyway.

ever consider not many Americans that go on holiday want to rough it in areas where “the plumbing is not so good”

sad fact of the matter is too few have the ability AND necessary background education/training to think critically about the situation at hand

then there is the talent of having the “calm” courage to face the harsh reality of the situation

because people have little or no experience w/ plumbing systems, lack the ability to think critically AND also lack the courage to deal w/ difficult issues head on because they are emotionally scared,… its no wonder that sewer systems across this nation are being plugged up

…so yes, sadly people have to informed not to do dumb stuff like flushing disinfection wipes (because they are not smart enough to figure out the consequences on their own)

It’s not necessarily “roughing it”. There are many reasonably developed areas of Europe, Canada, and the United Kingdom where plumbing is not super strong five star hotel quality. Probably even some in the USA itself.

And whatever emotional upset one is experiencing is not going to be improved by having one’s toilet overflow and having to have strange plumbers come into the house and deal with that. Although it is job security for the plumbers.

emotional upset of an avoidable plumbing issue kinda is insignificant when compared w/ the public health issue of various IDs (infectious diseases like cholera) caused by contaminated water
