I am a Benedictine monk. I have a need to return to Thailand. In order to care for parents. I went to church on Sunday with my black ground habit. I was fiercely resisted by the head of the church including his member. Wonder at; Just a man called me “Father” seems all thing progressively get worse. Bawl publicly “He is not Father” that I have never say or claim anything or talk to anyone. Status of man was judged without any procedure which sounded bad to the church. Moreover the distortion of the teachings, obscure in knowledge.

Should I stay in my dry cool place with solitude? I just feel ashamed with all I have seen. The land politic interpolated in to the church and teaching… Secularism was divided into two groups according to local politics… sinful !

Ask your abbot.

I’m not entirely clear as to the story you told.

I would advise you to continue in your prayer and to contact your abbot. Also, if you are having an issue with a local pastor because of your habit, or the content of his homilies, you should meet with him in private and discuss these issues with him. You should be allowed to continue to wear your habit to mass and prayer, and you should expect good clear teaching from the pastor. If you are lacking these things, and you have talked with your pastor, feel free to talk with the local bishop.
