Suscipe me Domine?

forgive my ignorance…

“Suscipe me Domine”:

“Uphold (or ‘Receive’) me Lord and I shall live: and do not disappoint me in my hope.”

do those 3 words say all that?? or is “suscipe me domine” the “name” of the prayer? or is it just the first few words in the prayer? is there any more to it?

It’s the first three words: “Receive/uphold me, Lord.”

Often the Psalms and other prayers are simply designated by the first Latin word or phrase.
 
do you know where i can find the rest of it, in latin and english?
 
Psalm 118:116
“Suscipe me Domine, secundum eloquium tuum, et vivam et non confundas me in expectatione mea”

Receive me Lord, according to your word and I shall live, and do not disappoint me in the promise you have given me.

These are the words a monk sings three times the day he takes his vows for life. They are also the words sung by his brethren for him as his coffin is lowered into the grave - recalling a life given, a promise made.

No way! Was King David who wrote the Psalms a monk? They’re prayers for everyone!

Lots of lay people DO pray the Psalms (including that one) in the Liturgy of the Hours aka the Divine Office
