Swearing oaths

In the testament as reported by Matthew, in 5: 33-37, it tells us to swear no oath. That to do so comes from evil.

Why then does the Catholic Church not regularly complain that governments and their courts of law, etc., regularly are in contempt of Jesus - Anti-Christ - by merely asking for oaths to be sworn?

As I see it, it is no wonder that so many governments are found to be corrupt, under the circumstances.

Thei instruction is quite clear. There are no exceptions. Just to say, “I swear” followed by anything is contempt of Jesus.

You are to answer questions yes or no. Nothing else.

The instruction ins’t to be taken exactly literally. What Jesus is telling us here is that we are to be honest in all our dealings. We should be so honest that our reputation for honesty proceeds us so that people don’t feel the need to make us swear before God.

When we Swear to God we are calling God in as a witness to our statement. to say something contrary to the truth would be gravely sinful.

There are two relevant scripture quotes from Paul:

2 Corinthians 1:23 But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth.

Galatians 1:20 (Now in what I am writing to you, I assure you before God that I am not lying.)

It would seem that Paul is not totally adverse to swearing an oath and the oath is recorded as scripture. So this data must be part of the discussion.

By who? What does that mean… you don’t know what you are, or what you want to be… or you have not found a religion that agrees with you?
