Hey there, all you Tiber Swim Team hopefuls for 2008!!

Five weeks from midnight tonight, you’re all going to have Oil of Chrism dripping down your foreheads.

:extrahappy: :extrahappy: :extrahappy: :extrahappy:

So, yeah - who’s going to be your Patron Saint for Confirmation?

Mine was St. Teresa of Avila. 🙂

Mine is definitely going to be St. Thomas Aquinas. My biggest stumbling block in converting from atheism to Catholicism was my preconceived idea that you could not be intellectual or scientific and profess a faith in God. Oh how his writings proved me wrong, and started me down the path that will culminate in this Easter Vigil!

I get a head-ache every time I try to read his stuff, but I’m sure glad he helped you! 👍

😊 I haven’t picked one yet. I’m having trouble choosing. 🙂
Only 1 month to go. 🙂 We had to pick ours by last week, but an ice storm came and classes were cancelled, so we have another week to touch up our saint reports. You can always ask the Holy Spirit to help you choose one. It helped me choose mine.

Years ago, we had a Bishop who didn’t let the children pick their own Patron Saints; he had a system for picking them, and the kids just went by what he chose for them.

Using his system, it’s St. Joseph, for you. 😉

Or, maybe if Andinell’s having trouble finding a saint, then Saint Anthony. 😉

Monica
It was a very important decision for me that I thought about for weeks. I am extremely excited about my choice. She is very important to me and her life means so much to me.

Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Saint Jane Frances de Chantal. No matter how many other saints I look at, read about, and try to pray about, those two always show up. I cannot choose between the two, and I will be speaking to my spiritual director regarding the “rules” about having two patron saints and combining their names into one confirmation name. If I am able to do so, my confirmation name will be Catherine Jane.

There ya go, Andinell - you’ve got two to choose from. Which do you like better; St. Joseph (patron Saint of workers), or St. Anthony (patron Saint of lost objects)? 🙂

**Hi… are newbies to the forum welcome in this dicussion? I just found CAF last week, and am in RCIA at the Universiity of Dayton. We went through the Rite of Election last week and I’m currently looking for a St. for my confirmation name. I really want St. Dwynwen, but she’s not listed in all the books. I’ve found things about her online… and have emailed everyting to Fr. Jerry… but he’s had the flu and hasnt’ gotten back to me. So my back-ups are St. Rita or St. Clare. **

Mine is the Apostle John. His Gospel is my favorite, he was the Lord’s “beloved disciple,” he was with Jesus until the very end, was entrusted by Him to care for his mother, and was a visionary. 😃

Welcome to CAF, and to the Catholic Church!! :dancing:

Saint John Chrysostom.

This came about because my RCIA director said that I reminded her of him, that she saw many parallels in our faith journeys. I told her my first name is John (I don’t go by John, so most do not know that) After looking into it, I see what she means.

shouldn’t i pick a woman? i was thinking more along the lines of St Anne or Catherine of Sweden…

i wonder how that bishop’s system works, where he picks your saint for you?

Is “Andinell” a woman’s name? I thought you were a man. 😊

How about St. Margaret Mary? (Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) Or St. Elizabeth (cousin of Mary)? Or Mary?

He went in order of the statues and windows at the Cathedral. You were the first one in the thread not to know your Patron Saint yet, and because I was assuming you were a man, I gave you St. Joseph, who is at the front of the Cathedral and the first male Saint on the list.

For the girls, the first one is Mother Mary.
