Does this “synodal” church seem to be another word for Protestant denominationalism? How does Universal fit into synodal?
Synod: an assembly of the clergy and sometimes also the laity in a diocese or other division of a particular Church.Does this “synodal” church seem to be another word for Protestant denominationalism?
I think that’s a stretch. It just seems like it’s going to look like denominations.
Or like all the particular Churches for the last 2000 years in the literally thousands of synods that have come before.if each synod creates unique practices for their region it will look an awful lot like Protestant denominations.
Is this about the German Synod? What was that all about? I understood that the Vatican never approved it yet they held it. What’s up with that? The Catholic version of the Ukraine crisis? What if each group of Bishops determines new practices, and doctrines for their regions.
The Church is local as well as universal so there’s always going to be a tension between the two. This doesn’t just apply at the regional level but also the national and diocesan levels too. To some extent, there always have been and always will be local variations in the way things are done but what we believe always remains unchanged. Some things, particularly those which affect the universality of the Church, will always remain unaltered but there’s also much to be said for recognising and adapting to local needs.if each synod creates unique practices for their region it will look an awful lot like Protestant denominations.
Not really. The Germans bishops just claimed that the grave disorder of homosexuality is completely normal, going agianst church teaching on the matter.I think that’s a stretch.
