Any PTO time?
I’m not going to PTO just to avoid standing alone during communion.

As for missing the Holy Week worship hour- our presence is not mandated, but it’s one of those unspoken rules- just like we don’t miss Christmas chapel. There are monthly praise/worship hours. Normally I attend as they involve singing hymns and praise songs (if the song is one that is not sung in Mass, I just stand and pray silently) and a devotional read by our CEO.

The communion thing happens only once a year (Holy Week) so I feel lucky that the discomfort comes but once a year.

I do feel quite blessed to work in a Chiristian workplace where our meetings start with prayer, we have an inter-office prayer chain, and we have weekly prayer gatherings and bible studies.

It has also given me the opportunity to explain Catholic Traditions to coworkers who grew up in closed-minded families, and clear up some of those common Catholic myths.

Sit at the end of a row or in the back. If you feel uncomfortable, offer up your discomfort for a specific intention. 🙂

Thanks for standing firm and doing the right thing.
