Talk on Discipleship

Hello All!

I am currently on my parish’s Christ Renew His Parish (CRHP) team as the lay director. With this role comes the task of giving a witness talk on discipleship. I’m writing this post, #1- To ask for your prayers on this (I need them!) and #2- To ask for any advice you may have for me as I go to write this talk. I just don’t even know where to start. Help! 😦

I have given a couple talks on subjects of Faith, but I am no expert. I would say you are starting well by seeking prayer support. It seems God always gives us the right words, eventually. Prayer is always key to writing a talk.

If you are having trouble, I would suggest defining discipleship early in the talk. Give examples of how it has worked in your life or in the parish. Maybe a passage of scripture indicating the role of discipleship or how it works. You could move on to plans to expand current discipleship programs or ways of improving it within your parish. Conclude with at least one more scripture passage concerning discipleship.

I would also recommend previewing your talk at least once with a few close friends.
