Some time ago my daughter mentioned that her eldest son was fearful at night in case burglars “bad men” broke into the house at night. They had moved to a new house and this 8 year old was in a bedroom downstairs while everyone else slept in rooms upstairs.

So I gave him a little statue I had of St Michael and explained that he is a protector and God’s most powerful angel. My daughter told me that he sometimes holds the statue and talks to it.

This week he phoned me to ask for more information about St Michael. I gave him the information and then talked about how God has given everyone their own special angel to guard them. We talked a bit about Heaven and he asked me, “Grandma, do you think I will go to Heaven?” It almost broke my heart. I told him that if he loved God and did what God wanted, then Yes, he would go to Heaven.

He doesn’t have a great imagination so I gave him a graphic book of the New Testament and he has been reading it! I told him that is where he will find what God wants him to do.

My daughter said he was all smiles at bedtime because if someone broke into the house he knew his angel would keep him safe. I promised to get him a prayer to the Guardian Angel that he and his sister could pray together every morning.

Plant seeds and tend them as the children grow.

You are certainly being faithful to God by leading these children to Him! God Bless you!

If your daughter isn’t opposed to them having the statue and the NT, prayers, etc. Possibly she would consider bringing them to Mass and baptizing them!? You’re absolutely right …plant those seeds! 👍

How wonderfully inspiring to grandparents that are in the same boat! Keep watering those seeds! 🙂

I just talked with my 3 year old nephew about St. Michael. He loved the book of angels I showed him. He and his sister are not yet baptized, and probably will not be baptized in the Catholic Faith. However, my sister in law and brother seem to have no objections with the catechesis and me taking them to Mass.

Another good opportunity to plant seeds that can grow! God bless…
