Before his ascension into heaven, Jesus told his apostles to teach the people all that He had commanded them to do.
This is puzzling to me.
This is puzzling to me.
- How do we know all that Jesus commanded? I’ve never seen it listed out, like the Jews enumerate all the 613 commandments of the Torah.
- Jesus told His disciples that they weren’t ready for all the truths He had to teach, but He would later send the Holy Spirit who would teach them all truths. That seems to conflict with the first one, about what they were to teach.
- At the end of John’s gospel it says that all that Jesus did would fill up all the books of the world. So, there’s a lot of things that weren’t recorded.
- It doesn’t seem to me that any of the gospels were written with this command in view, that we would know “all” that Jesus commanded.
