A Waffle House restaurant worker in Georgia was arrested on charges of allegedly paying a homeless man $5 to drink a poisonous cocktail of chemical cleaning solution that left him in critical condition, according to police.

images.ibsys.com/2005/1215/5543632_200X150.jpg Police said Quentin Wilson, 19, was taken into custody at a Stockbridge, Ga., Waffle House restaurant after 50-year-old Rex Leo became violently ill from the drink.

Police said Quentin Wilson, 19, was taken into custody at a Stockbridge, Ga., Waffle House restaurant after 50-year-old Rex Leo became violently ill from the poisonous drink.

Leo was transported to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition Thursday.

“What did this poison do to his system?” Leo’s sister, Linda, said. “It was acid, it ate through his esophagus and they don’t know how much more damage. It ate his gums, his tongue. He’s on a ventilator right now.”

Leo’s family said their homeless brother suffers from alcoholism and has been living near the Waffle House for some time.

They added they will push for tougher criminal charges for what happened.

A Waffle House representative said they fired Wilson and another employee who witnessed – but did not stop the alleged prank.

Police may upgrade charges against Wilson from misdemeanor reckless conduct to more serious felony charges.

I read some updates and this man was charged with felony aggravated battery on Friday, Dec. 16th.

The homeless man was drunk, and took the dare to drink this concoction of industrial strength cleaner.

Unfortunately, we as humans have the tendency to chose our own vision of happiness rather than the true vision. God gave us the opportunity to live in the Garden of Eden forever in his companionship. Our first parents refused and we are no better than they are. Don’t blame God for that. Blame our use of the gift of free will. God respects our free will, because without it we wouldn’t be human.

Dear friend I certainly do NOT blame God, I try to figure out what in the world would possess someone to do such a thing:nope:

I believe its because we have free will. And the fact that we are inclined to sin.

I get you, Lisa. I have free will, but I have never been inclined to encourage someone to drink cleaning solution that clearly says ‘DO NOT INGEST’ on the bottle.

I hope for his sake he really is just that stupid. Better to be stupid than truly cruel and heartless.

The persons involved may have been as cruel and heartless - as evil - as the action they committed. But it likely was a temporary condition, and not a sign of their true character.

A group of teens in Iowa doused opossums with lighter fluid, set them on fire, and laughed as they burned to death. They also videotaped the whole thing and mailed the tape to a humor website. Appalled, the website gave the tape to PETA which gave it to the police.

At their trial, the teens were apparently remorseful and ashamed at what they did and the noteriety that they brought upon themselves and their families.

I am guessing that the guys involved in the poisoning of that alcoholic, homeless man will also feel shame and remorse as the evil of what they did is held up for all to see.

I will pray for that man’s recovery - and also for the conversion of the teens who poisoned him.

I believe that any potential human being is capable of doing such a terrible thing like drinking cleaning solution and being truly cruel and heartless. But you know what many people deny that humans are capable of doing this, when the fact of matter is that with God nothing is ever impossible.
