Is the process of conversion for teenagers different from that for adults?
I’m thinking of converting because I want to be part of the true Church and believe that the Catholic Church follows the right path.

I don’t believe so - it would be through the RCIA process.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

It is essentially the same. Ask the priest of your local parish. There may be enough teens to warrant a class just for them.

My parents are not enthusiastic that I would like to convert
What should I do? Is it sinful to disobey them and to join the Church or should I go ahead and do it?

Thanks for that, Spirithound, it’s something I’ve been worrying about. :blessyou: 😃

Perhaps search the forums for some advice regarding your situation, I have read of similar stories many times on here. Enjoy the journey, and all the best! 🙂

The process is the same in terms of learning about the faith… the laws, sacraments, teachings… but the dynamics of going for RCIY which is RCIA for Youths is totally different, in most churches the sponsors will use a more practical approach rather than sitting there and listening… expect alot of games worship sharing and bonding at a youth initiation program. but of course ask ur local priest and meet up with the president of the ministry dont forgot explore different churches… my friends who i journeyed with went to 2 different parishes and when we found the right one … we dropped out the first process… then joined a year after when we were more “MATURED” … The LAWS of GOD is PERFECT in CONVERTING SINNERS… that we were, now we are active youth in our parish …

Don’t worry about what your parents or friends or anybody else tells you about your wanting to convert. It’s a decision you need to make yourself and if you feel that calling, then you need to answer to it regardless of what anybody else has to say.

Find a parish you would like to join and then call the parish office. Ask about the process for coming into full communion and they’ll help you get everything take of. You might be able to participate in an initiation program with other individuals close to your age or you may be placed with other adults. It’s just a matter of what that particular church does; you might inquire at several, though, before making a decision.

God bless!
