Teens with Faith are Looked Down Upon

I would love to hear some opinions on a matter that I have been noticing ALOT latley. For me it seems like religious teens are set aside in the modern world, even looked down upon.

I should tell you I am looking for opinions or personal stories you are willing to share for the purpose of a news article I am writing for a journalism class at school. Despite this I am really interested in what anyone has to say about this.

To me it seems like teens with faith are looked down upon in society and automatically labeled as fanatical.
 
IMO, i don’t think teens with faith are looked down upon. i think that if the teens cannot engage in an intelligent discussion about their faith and only spit out preformed answers…people question those teens…maybe they have religion and not faith.

i see this more with my cousins who are protestant. my sister and i try to engage them in a dialogue about faith and they struggle with it but if you throw questions at them point blank they can answer them.
 
Teens with faith are looked down on by other teens. 🤷 It happens. A lot of the time adults with faith are looked down on by other adults. I try to rejoice when this happens to me, and when I can’t, I at least offer up the suffering. 👍
 
As a volunteer with youth, in this part of the world most of the most popular, happy and respected teens are those with real faith. They are not fake, they live what they believe, they are very much salt and light to the community.

There are teens with faith who are in every social clique and those who seem to rise above the cliques. I’ve not yet found a cookie cutter teen with faith, that is a good thing!
 
Actually, I think that might be the case in general, but here in our small community, my son talks with other kids (he tells me) at lunchtime, about Lent, his faith…my son is somewhat shy, so the fact that he is asking other kids about their faith, and talking about his, shows he feels a certain level of comfort doing so. The parishes are packed with teen youth groups, and functions. I think that a teen is looked down upon, if they refuse sex, drugs, etc…because of their faith, as a reason. Then, kids can be quick to label them nerds, or something.

That has been my experience. I think that adults are like that to, snubbing other adults who seem to keep away from immorality because of their faith.

The youth of today definitely needs our prayers. They will be the future of our Church.
 
I have seen that happening in a catholic school. The kids just imitate the parents.
 
It’s true at my school, yeah. You just don’t fit in so well if you are Catholic, you really don’t fit in if you are religious at all but especially if you are Catholic. The only kids more outside the group are the Muslims. I think its because most teens are hopelessly confused with their spirituality and are in that “searching” phase so anyone who is confident in their faith is enviable. That’s the impression I’ve seemed to get anyway.
