One of the most comforting things I’ve seen and felt in the days right before and since the death of the pope is our Faith broadcast to the world. I saw more Masses yesterday broadcast on mainstream media than I’ve ever seen on EWTN.
I watch ABC News Now thru the internet since we have our TV set up only to play videos/dvds.
It has been non-stop coverage. The played news coverage (nearly the entire ceremony) form the day Pope John Paul became pope. I was only 6 years old on that day, and I have no memory of it -it was wonderful to watch.
They played coverage from many of the places the pope has traveled where he spoke to crowds and embraced people.
They brought up several times (with some ignorance) the churches teachings on abortion, contraception and woman priests. I’m sure some Sunday and Christmas/Easter Catholics are going 'What, the church *still *teaches against contraception? That can’t be right?"
I thought of some of the protestant Christians that may have never even seen a Mass, have now seen it several times in one day. I’ve found that many -mostly outside our faith- know very little about who the Pope was and what an impact he truly has made - any now they are being told.
Through our grief at the loss of our beloved pope it should be great comfort that through his death he has given us possibly one of the most wide spread evangelizations of the Faith to those all around the world. I can’t imagine much that would make him happier.
