I want to tell something about my priest that he might want to remain private so I won’t say who or where.
He gave me a real insight into what it means to him to be a priest after forty years. That insight has done wonders for me and truly strengthened my faith.
One evening I had lost something in the Church but it was late and the church was locked up. I saw the pastor’s car and decided to wait for him to come out. While I was waiting I looked through the windows and I could see partially into the reservation chapel. You know, that’s where the Tabernacle with the Holy Host is kept.
There was no one around; just me looking through the windows without him being aware that I was there. He was there, on his knees, praying to Christ. His hands and arms were extremely animated. Boy, was he having a discussion with the Lord! I don’t know the nature of his prayers but I do know that my priest fully expected a response from Jesus.
This was a clear demonstration to me that his faith was very very real. Even after forty years, and all the difficulties of being a priest in these times, he was still able to have an animated conservation with Christ. Well, if he could talk with Christ so could I. That one experience with a priest certainly was an epiphany for me.
He never knew what I saw.
