Has anyone had experience w/ temporary health insurance?

Our son turns 19 in December (not a f/t student therefore no longer covered under our policy) and leaves for the Navy in the spring. He may or may not have a full time job between now and then that would offer insurance.

We’re considering short term/ temporary insurance but have no experience. Any suggestions?

Why not let him get a Cobra plan from the insurance that he is loosing?
Your insurance plan should offer it to him…also note that Cobra plans in general are SPENDY!!!

Cobra is practically 3x what you were paying before! At least it was for me. 😦 But it could be worth it until the Navy covers him.

I used blue cross blue shield for a month of health coverage, and it cost me about a dollar a day at the time. I only got the catastrophic coverage tho.

Most major health companies have temporary health policies, I would recommend getting the highest deductible possible for this time frame to help cover any catastrophic loss.

Go to www.insure.com

It’s a good company that can sell you any kind of insurance and the CEO is a really good catholic. Years ago, I got a monthly insurance policy for around $40 per month just to cover anything catastrophic.
