Temptations Increasing

Fr. Isaac Reylea was giving a talk on confession. He made a wonderful point regarding restitution which I especially needed to hear in this moment of my life.

“When temptations increase, God is giving you the opportunity to say yes to Him for all the times you said no in the past”

I made my return to the Church not too long ago after years of dabbling in the spiritual cesspool outside the Catholic Church. At first my switch was delightful, more recently its become very difficult and discouraging. Fr. Relyeas insight gave me the kick I needed and I feel like someone reading this will benefit also.

In our human weakness we can easily fall to temptations, even the Apostles struggled and they were face to face with Jesus. That is Satan’s trick, make you fall again and again and feel unworthy of God’s love, make you weary and want to give up. For me, the more I grew in my faith the greater temptations that I faced, and the greater my faith, the worse I would feel when I did fall. Never give up, and Christ will not give up on you no matter how many times you fall.
