Thank the NFL for dropping ‘ED’ ads

The NFL, known for being protective of its wholesomely macho identity, is giving erectile dysfunction drugs the cold shoulder.

The National Football League said this week, it will not renew a marketing agreement with the makers of the anti-impotence drug Levitra out of concern ads promoting the three most popular erectile dysfunction drugs – Viagra, Cialis and Levitra – became a bit too racy in recent years.

“It’s the category we had concerns with,” said Brian McCarthy, spokesman for the NFL. “It went from being a men’s health initiative to more of a lifestyle performance issue in the marketing and advertising strategy.”

Please let Commissioner Paul Tagliabue know you appreciate the NFL dropping “ED” ads.

Cool beans! Now, if we can just put “Smiling Bob” out to pasture…

Remember what a scandal it was 7 or 8 years ago when Viagra first came out and hired Bob Dole as their spokesman? Those were the good old days, back when Viagra was advertised as a prescription drug so that 70-year-old men who had survived prostate cancer could resume having marital relations with their wives. But, of course, they couldn’t specify exactly what it did, so you were supposed to go and “ask your doctor if Viagra is right for you!”

Then a couple of years ago during the Super Bowl, one of Viagra’s competitors dropped the “four-hour erection” bombshell. These days, all of these pills are commonly hawked at night clubs so that the 17-year-old boy who got in on his fake ID can drink himself into oblivion and still be able to “perform” to his heart’s content with anything female.

Once again a great technological breakthrough ends up being used mostly to further the cause of casual sex.

Thanks for the information! I’m assuming that the Superbowl is included as well. I will be so happy not to have to suffer through those ads. It seemed like there were alot of them last year & the year before during Superbowl:banghead: UGH!!
I appreciate the decision and signed the E-Mail. Thanks:thumbsup:

They will need to clean up a lot more ads, and eliminate wardrobe malfunctions, before I’ll be interested in watching again.
