I’ll be sure to never do this again and to get to confession as soon as possible.

You’re scrupulous so the person you need to talk to about this is your Priest. Well-meaning strangers online are not the right people to guide you and you shouldn’t rely on them. It won’t help your scruples.

Dude. This is a sin against the sixth commandment PERIOD. It doesn’t matter what reason you supposedly had for doing so.

And frankly, I think you are only fooling yourself with this “I only did it to get tired” excuse.

Talk to your pastor in confession. Contact him to see if he will hear your confession. If not make an act of contrition and confess when confession is next available.

You said hail marys and then deliberately sinned?
1 You are lying to your self if you think it wasn’t sexual and you need to not post this information on here.

Good points. There’s also sloth involved. Even with that, spending the night restfully and quietly in prayer feels much better in the morning, so it’s spiritually and physically beneficial.

It’s an interesting thought, but have any of the mystics of the Church related this? Where does the story come from? I’m not trying to be one of those “sources, please” people (translated: people who call other people liars), but I have to wonder if this is just one of those folk beliefs, of which no one knows the origin.

If committed while in full possession of one’s senses and intellect, one should never assume that it was “only a venial sin”. Theoretically, it could be, but it is a reason to get to confession as soon as possible. In the present crisis, an Act of Perfect Contrition may be the only possibility, where you are sorry for the sin because it offends God, not so much because it puts one’s salvation at risk.

It is a very common sin. Be at peace and make your AOPC right now, then get to confession at your earliest possible opportunity.

Thank you. I’d rather die than do this again. Next confession time is this Friday. I’ll be sure to get there

I didn’t think it was mortally sinful, but I guess it was. I’m sorry for posting this on here, I was just trying to seek advice. I’m sorry if I scandalized you or anyone else here as well. I admit it was unbelievably stupid. I can’t delete this now, so I apologize for that, too

If done for the intent of sexual pleasure, it most certainly is a mortal sin. It’s a disordered act as well. It’s arguably worse than adultery according to St. Thomas Aquinas as well. Please don’t make the same mistake as I did

Frankly, I would not classify masturbation as being a “mortal sin” because who’s hurt in the process? Many years ago sometimes I would masturbate before going on a date because I didn’t want to get carried away and get someone pregnant, and I hardly see that as being a fault.
Our Blessed Lord is “hurt” — this sin, and all other sins, put Him on the cross — and, even though it may not be obvious, it injures the person who does it. They release chemicals in their bloodstream that incline towards union with a beloved one, yet there is no loved one. It can do psychological damage. And I cannot get graphic about this — it’d surely violate CAF guidelines — but in certain cases, it can even be physically damaging.

Have you read what St. Thomas Aquinas has said about it? I highly recommend it. it’s a good read and will enlighten any Catholic

Where can I do this? Sorry I’m still new to the website
