I just wanted to say a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to the community and moderators here, for flagging some of my recent comments.
I was without the sacraments for the last several weeks and gradually slipped from vice to venial sin to, eventually, mortal sin. While in sin, I left comments on this site that were harsh, lacked patience, or were just plain misguided even if I meant well at the time.
Having my comments flagged (and in one case, directly edited by a moderator) felt like an affront at the time, but I’m thankful for it now. This is a healthy community and I’m glad you didn’t allow me to drag you down with me. In addition, having my public expression flagged and corrected helped me to stop and consider whether I was actually being unhelpful.
I finally made it to Confession and received our Lord in the Eucharist (Happy Sunday!).
One thing this whole experience has helped me realize is I should self-exclude from ‘contributing’ my thoughts online when my own eyes are clouded by sin. I became the blind trying to lead the blind. And I’m just thankful that you didn’t follow me (and also took measures to keep others from being misguided by me).
Anyway, not to make too much of it. Just wanted to say ‘Thank you’ and express that I consider the moderation of this community a positive thing, including from being on the ‘moderated’ end of it.
