Thank You God! Melenoma caught and removed

Today I was diagnosed with Melanoma. Fortunately, it was in its earliest stage and is 100% curable through the minor out patient surgery they performed right after they gave me the diagnosis.

What is so miraculous about this is that I NEVER go to the doctor. I usually don’t get sick or notice anything wrong with me, and when I do, I just let it clear up on its own. This time, I happened to notice a mole on my back that looked kind of suspicious, but not too bad. And for some reason, I didn’t even debate it. Without really thinking about it, I looked up a dermatologist and scheduled an appointment last week. They took a biopsy last Wednesday, got the results back this morning, and had it removed before lunch. According to the doctor nothing more to worry about, except to have regular check ups every three months for the next year and then every six months for the next few years. Not a bad prognosis. But it would have been a completely different story, had I waited or even ignored it.

Anyway, this is the second time in less than six months, that my life has been possibly spared because I was moved to make a decision that was completely out of character for me. All I can say is thank you God!
 
Glory to God! I find myself in your situation frequently, and am continually amazed by all of the blessings that God gives to such a sinner like me. What a merciful, kind, loving God we have!😃 Peace be with you!

you would think any suspicious skin lesion would be taken seriously here in SoTex but it takes at least 6 months to get an appointment with a dermatologist, I have been waiting since July, and twice have been rescheduled. I will probably find a dermatologist when I go up north. If the lesion was serious I would have been in her office the next week, so I will assume it’s not.

very good news, now all that remains is to reflect on why your life has been spared.
 
You have been spared from a vicious disease. Count your blessings, and rejoice!
 
The thing that has been on my mind in all this is that the reason I was spared was because I have health insurance and can afford to go to the doctor to have things checked out, even when they don’t appear serious. Had I not been insured, I probably would have waited until it was too late. I hate to think that there are people who will die from cancer because they thought they couldn’t afford to have a doctor look at something that may or may not be anything serious.

I talked to my company to see if I could sponsor a needy family by allowing them to be covered under our group plan where I would pay the premium, but appearantly our inurance plan wouldn’t allow that. When I go to the doctor next week to have my stitches taken out, I’ll ask if I can donate some money that will cover the cost of a skin cancer screening for someone who is uninsured.
