Hello,

I would like to thank everyone here on the apologetic section of the forum. I have two siblings but I have always been closer to my brother. He attends a very fundamentalist church called the WOrd of GOd. Considering how evangilical some fundamentalist can be, especially where love is concerned, I was nervous about announcing to him that I was considering RCIA. He said his only problem with the Catholic Church was that they worshiped statues. Well I have read all the posts here on Dave’s Allegation that Catholic’s Worship Statues. I asked my brother if he would ask me to pray if his wife was sick. The expression on his face was definitly duh, but he answered, “of course.” I told him that was all that Catholics do. And then I briefly explained that Catholics believe that the saints in heaven can hear us. It was easy. I was prepared for more questions or at least something more difficult. I went a little bit in to my problem with Protestants-the removing of books from the bible. I wasn’t trying to convert him, just make him understand my view point. He seemed open and not condeming which was all I wanted.👍

Congratulations on coming into the Church and that is great to hear that were well prepared to witness to the faith.

Well done. Most non-Catholics will at least acknowledge our beliefs if they are presented as reasonable, and if the focal point is Christ. Be patient. Acknowledging can be done in your time… accepting is done in God’s time.

I’m glad to hear you had some success. Isn’t is great being able to have an explanation for the different facets of our faith?!
