Thanking the Priest After Confession?

Hi,

I feel compelled to since he has usually given me some advice that I dearly needed and that he has heard my confession and given me absolution, but I also understand that it is God that forgives me and not the priest, so I was wondering if it is all right to thank the priest.

Its perfectly fine to thank a confessor for being gentle, insightful, kind, etc. However, as you point out, ultimate thanks goes to God for His mercy and love.
