I really doubt it’s going to make a difference.

Anyway they already accuse us of worshipping more than one God, since they have this idea stuck in thir heads that a whole cannot consist of different parts.

We have many beliefs that agree with Christianity and one of them is the Ten commandments. Note that the first one is what we call Tawheed in arabic = oneness of God.

Amen, we all have this in common…thanks Deen for reminding us.

The problem is what Oneness means to you and to me. We believe in the One and only True God! Father, Son and Holy Spirit, they are One God!!! They are not 3 Gods, but all are ONE, just as Jesus taught us that He and the Fathe are ONE! Amen!

Hi Exoflare,

In another forum, a Muslim made the remark that they hoped our new pope would be as embracing, as John Paul II was, toward Islam. Found the following on the Vatican website. It would be nice if all our religions accepted that each wants to be pleasing in the eyes of God. Our understanding of God differs yes, but that is no cause for condemnation, of which only God is capable. We should try to act with charity, like John Paul II did.

*Dear Friends, *

It is a special joy for me to be able to welcome you, our guests who follow the faith of Islam, to Rome for the colloquium on “Holiness in Christianity and Islam”. My fraternal greetings go as well to those Christians who have been taking part in the colloquium. As I have often said in other meetings with Muslims, your God and ours is one and the same, and we are brothers and sisters in the faith of Abraham. Thus it is natural that we have much to discuss concerning true holiness in obedience and worship to God.

All true holiness comes from God, who is called “The Holy One” in the Sacred Books of the Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Your Holy Qur’an calls God “Al-Quddus”, as in the verse: “He is God, besides Whom there is no other, the Sovereign, the Holy the (source of) Peace” (Al-Qur’an 59, 23)…
 
Islam is based on the Catholic Faith. Mohammed picked the things liked about the Catholic Church, and eliminated those things he didn’t like. Then he made up his own religion.

You know what chris you are islam and catholism are kinda the same: we both believe in one god, the angles, heaven, hell, the day of judgement, satan, sins, good deeds, prophets, mircules etc. but we may believe in these things exisitance but how we believe in the is were you see that islam and catholism have nothing in common.

The quran and the bible are two very different books. Here are two examples:
  1. The prophets : in the quran the prophets are held in the highest esteem. They are the best of their nation and committed no grave sins. They made mistakes because they were human but in the end they were chosen as prophets by God because they were the most righteous and obedient of God’s servants. They were as humanly possible perfect men. in the bible the prophets are just like you and me, they are average people who at times committed grave sins like incest. The quran also has certain prophets that the bible doesn’t recognize as prophets.
  2. Angles and Jinn : the quran states that angles are beings created from light, they have no free will and are always obedient to God. They carry various duties such a s the angle of death, the angles that bring rain, thunder etc. The Quran also talks about other beings called jiins, creatures created from smokeless fire that have free will and live in what I think to be an alternate universe. They get married have kids, eat sleep and they are also commanded to worship God. On the Day of Judgment they too will be judged. Satan is a jinn and not an angle. The bible on the other hand says that angles have free will because Satan was an angle that disobey God and refused to bow to Adam (as) thus was kicked out of heaven.
  3. The bible is composed of many books by many authors and went under revise throughout the centuries. The quran on the other hand is one book, one author (God) and has not undergone any revisions.
  4. The Bible and the Quran have two very different views on who God is, what it takes to be saved, what happens to the soul when it dies, what happens on the day of judgment, the roles of society and religion etc, etc, etc.

Lucifer means “light” or “morning star”, as Lucifer was the first of God’s creations, ie “Let there be light.” Satan did not just disobey God, he attempted to overthrow God. As Matt Damon, as an angel, says in Dogma (however in error the movie may be): “I have seen what happens to the proud when they try to take on the throne.” And as the name of Michael the Archangel means, “Who is like to God?”

The only “changes” you could make an argument for prior to that is the fact that the bible was translated into other languages. But the same argument could then be made for the Quran, as it has also been translated from Arabic.**

At last! I found the first Muslim in this forum! If you don’t mind me asking… I do not know arabic so I want to know if you have also different versions of the Qur’an in arabic like what we have with the Bible. Thank you in advance.

wow. Have you studied the Quran or Mohamed (pbuh) at all? IT seems like someone said this crazy statement and then everyone is just repeating it without any knowledge.

Eliminated those things he didnt like? Please tell me what you feel Mohamed(pbuh) gained from this
 
there is only one Quran, it is the same Quran that was at the time of the prophet(saw), if anyone tries to say that there are different interpretations this is not true, the only way that one quran would differ from another is the same way that american english, british english, australian english differ.

These are some quotes from the famous Catholic historian, Hilaire Belloc, in his book The Great Heresies. pp. 42-45. The book is published by Tan Books and Publishers, Inc. Rockford, IL

"Mohammedanism was a *heresy: *that is the essential point to grasp before going any further. It began as a heresy, not as a new religion. It was not a pagan contrast with the Church; it was not an alien enemy. It was a perversion of Christian doctrine…It differed from most (not from all) heresies in this, that it did not arise from within the bounds of the Christian Church. The chief heresiarch, Mohammed himself, was not like most heresiarchs, a man of Catholic birth and doctrine to begin with. He sprang from pagans. But that which he taught was in the main Catholic doctrine, oversimplified…

…he preached and insisted upon a whole group of ideas which were peculiar to the Catholic Church…the very foundation of his teaching was in the prime Catholic doctrine…The attributes of God he also took over in the main from Catholic doctrine…Mohammed preached with insistence that prime Catholic doctrine, on the human side-the immortality of the soul and its responsiblity for actions in this life, couple with the consequent doctrine of punishment and reward after death…

could you make a list of some of the things our prophet took from the chruch and then revamped into a heresy religion. It doesn’t have to belong, just the main points.

Ja’far the son of Abu-Talib replied: “We say in his regard that which our prophet says: That he was the servant of God and his messenger, a spirit from Him, and His Word which He bestowed upon Mary the chaste, the pure.”

Upon hearing this the king struck the ground with his hand and lifted up a stick. He then said “Verily, Jesus the son of Mary did not surpass what you have just said even so much as this stick.” The king granted the Muslims sanctuary and the emissaries of Quraish returned with empty hands.

When they heard the words of Muhammad (pbuh) and the Qur’an they began to say among themselves: “This is indeed the prophet that the Jews have been threatening you with, so do not allow them to beat you to him.” So they believed in him and accepted his message.
