A person would know the difference between mortal sin and venial sin…they just would for example hold falsely that such and such is a serious thing…a grave matter…or they would be mistaken other facts involved (my Sunday example above)…and with full knowledge give deliberate consent…

(again those who are scrupulous etc see my other post above)
No. The matter actually has to be a grave matter. Trying to accomplish what is truly a grave sin by incompetent means is still a grave matter. Trying to accomplish what you believe to be a grave matter does not make it into a grave matter, unless perhaps if the matter is grave, but for a different reason than you thought.

But we are getting into issues that are God’s to work out. If you intended to commit a mortal sin, you ought to repent and confess your intention, even if you find after commission of the act that you intended was not such a grave matter as you had thought.

Remember, we don’t have to concern ourselves about the fate of those who are past making a decision on commission or repentance. The Church teaches what is grave, what ought to be confessed, and who* risks* eternal damnation by a particular act. The Church does not teach who is going to Hell. That judgement is for God alone.

I am correct in what I have asserted (tis not my idea but a long part of Catholic Moral Theology)

Maybe it will make it clearer to rephrase a bit:

It IS grave matter to do what one thinks is grave matter…

(again those who are scrupulous etc should read my post above)

(now in this…as in many things …there can be exceptions… aspects that can bring mitigation…etc …but all things being equal …what I stated is the case)

(again those who are scrupulous need to read my earlier post and follow your confessor…and the principles given to you etc)
