The ACTS

I was in a meeting with people who wanted to come into the church and start RCIA classes and we were talking about prayer. A woman gave the talk and was talking about a form of prayer that keeps God in your day called ACTS.

A=Adoration
C=Contrition
T=Thanksgiving
S=Supplication

This is the first time that I’ve ever heard of this acronym. Has anyone else?

I’ve heard it before, as the four different types of prayer there are and what priority each should take.

This has been around in various forms, for quite a long time. I first encountered it in a evangelical Navigators booklet back in the 80’s, but I have seen older, Catholic, references since then.

I think it is a good neumonic–I have taught it’s use in adult religious ed classes.
