The Amish of Lancaster

I have always been a bit fascinated by the Amish as well, their simplified way of life seems so clean and basic, without the frazzling every-day stresses most of us face. I might be tempted to become Amish if I didn’t believe that when it comes to religion, they are missing the point. Their belief that grace and forgiveness of sins is attainable by faith alone for one. And I personally have a problem with the concept of shunning. I don’t believe that you can correct someone who openly sins against traditional church doctrine by denying them all contact with other people. Shutting them out of the community seems unnecessarily cruel. And I think you run the risk that they will want to return to the church and say they repent merely because the isolation is too hard to bear in a close-knit community like the Amish. But that is really just my own personal opinion.
All that aside, I would absolutely love to spend some time in Lancaster County, it sounds beautiful and very relaxing. Glad you had such a wonderful time there!
