Well, here in Central Oklahoma we only have a part-time Catholic radio station - 890 A.M. Today, while driving, I heard a Protestant program an hour before a Catholic one in which the host called the RSV Bible “the Bible authorized for use by the Antichrist.” This guy claimed that RSV only uses “Thou and Thy” in reference to Antichrist in Revelation but not in reference to Our Lord. His conclusion was that this “proves” that RSV was translated under the inspiration of Antichrist while the translators of the KJV were under direct inspiration of holy spirit.

Oh For Cryin’ Out Loud! :crying: :crying: :crying:
That is about one of the weirdest things that I’ve ever heard. Is that all the evidence that he gave? If so then, I’d just say that he’s another guy who loves his KJV and thinks that it’s the Bible that fell down outta the sky at the apostle’s feet as Jesus ascended into heaven. (Despite all the clear historical evidence to the contrary).
Pax vobiscum,

I’m trying to be Kind but I must say that it makes me so angry to think that they say these things on the radio and television. We know that they are ridiculous, but people of other faiths hear this nonsense and totally believe them.

Blessings,
Shannin

That is simply not a fact. The RSV uses “Thou/Thy/Thee” throughout when addressing God. This guy has a screw loose.

When it was published complete in 1952, this is exactly what some pastors said it was. It was also alleged to be Communist 🙂

And all because it was not the AV 🙂

I don’t think this is really more weird than some of the claims made for the “Douai-Reims” ##

I wasn’t aware that God is an Englishman. :whacky:

It amazes me that Christians can behave that way. I guess they feel very threatened by Catholics to be saying these things. There is rampant anti Catholocism in Oklahoma. At least there used to be when I lived there about 30 years ago.

Where do they get the idea that the translators of the KJV were under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit? That is a blatant untruth.

Only the authors of the Scripture were directly inspired by the Holy Spirit, not the translators.

As for the RSV, NIV, JB or any other translation being the Bible of the Antichrist, I would like to see the verifiable proof of that!!!

Hee Hee, may be I should be asking if this person needs to be certified…

Perhaps they believe that James1 of England is God… oops what was that I heard about this king?.. Never !!!

Good point, perhaps they think that God is an Englishman, but I think it might be a case of…

“Look up in the air. Is it a plane? Is it a bird? Is it superman? NO, it is the Kings James Bible”
