The Antiochian Church and Constantinople

I heard that Patriarch Michael Cerularius of fame was also a big proponent of extending Imperial influence to the Antiochian Patriarchate and began a period of Hellenization that last a few centuries in the Antiochian Church. To what extent did was the Antiochian Church a “Greek Church” vs. an arab or syrian Church of the Byzantine rite before this period, and what was it’s legacy on the Antiochian Orthodox and Melkite Catholic liturgical and cultural life following the collapse of the Byzantine Empire?

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East was the minority group after the schism of 451 A.D. (Greek speaking city dwellers mainly, eventually called Melkites.) Then Antioch fell to the Muslim Arabs in 637 A.D. They were persecuted until the Roman Empire gained control of Antioch again (969 A.D.) and maintained it until 1085 A.D. Between 969 A.D. and 1085 A.D. and completed sometime in the 12th century, the Byzantine liturgies became the norm. They were then overcome by the Seljuk Turks in 1085 A.D.
