I have some exciting news to share with you! Recently our church has had two committees very busy and attempting to get our church busy too lol - The Evangelism Committee & our 5 yr. Planning Committee.

The Planning committee had released an idea sheet the parish to fill out, hoping to get some feed back and ideas for our church. When this was presented on Sunday during announcements it was stated that All ideas would be considered no matter how crazy, big or small. lol I got the idea that they were very desperate for some new plans.

Well, after much prayer and chatting with a few people, I suggested on my form starting an Art Club.

It is a family friendly group. Which by its nature requires it to have clean and safe art for all ages. Basically, if you can hold a brush, pen or crayon, are interesting in playing an instrument or culinary arts (or just want to come) all would be welcome.

We plan on meeting once a month on Sundays between 2-4. Our Father Nelson came and told me that they were very happy about the idea and I had their blessing in getting it started.

I later heard from a friend who happens to be on both committees that my idea was talked about a great deal and this is exactly what the Evangelistic Committee was looking for as a safe open way to encourage seekers of the faith!

I have never done something like this before but it is very exciting and I have some wonderful plans for the group all ready. Our 1st meeting is in Jan. after the Holiday rush is over.

I love the arts within our churches. The stained glass, the music and food are all very much apart of how we keep the church alive and its history alive. With all the techno stuff that makes our lives faster and “better” I don’t want loose that which is our rich devotion, that connects ourselves with Christ and His Church in a very profound way. And makes preserving our heritage so beautiful.

Fr. Nelson told me that he had never heard of art club in church before but thinks it is going to be a wonderful thing. I really hope so!

Hope this encourages you and maybe gives you some ideas for out reach too!

What a great idea. I pray that it is a resounding success.
