Allow me to introduce the smaller twin of Mont-Saint-Michel located in Cornwall, England. It’s also a tidal island that resembles roughly the same shape of Mont-Saint-Michel in France, and its name ‘St Michael’s Mount’ is the exact equivalent of Mont-Saint-Michel. In addition, unlike other English people who are mostly Anglo-Saxons, the Cornish people are mostly descendants of the Celts, same as the Bretons in France. It was really amusing that when I visited St Michael’s Mount a few years ago, a group of French schoolchildren from Brittany were also visiting it to learn about the history of their Cornish cousins. It’s interesting to see how one ethnic group gets divided between two countries and now speak completely different languages.
