Hello, brothers and sisters!

I would like to introduce you to this 13-parts series called: The Catholic Church - Builder of Civilization. It is based on a book by a catholic historian and economist - Thomas Woods. The central thesis is, that the Dark Ages were not that dark and that the rise of sciences and practicaly most of the modern western culture is thanks to the great contribution of the Catholic Church.

I watched four of the episodes. I didn’t realize there were 13 of them and will definitely check out your link. Thanks!

I especially enjoyed the one (I think it was episode 3 or 4) where he thoroughly critiques the anti-Catholic claim that the Church persecuted Galileo because she is “against science”. I wish the people who repeat that ridiculous misconception would take the time to inform themselves.👍

I’ve been a big fan of Thomas Woods since I became interested in economics, but I didn’t know he was a Lutheran-to-Catholic convert until finding these videos in Youtube.

Awesome videos, and great idea OP to promote it on this forum! 👍 I highly recommend it too!! :yup:

I was looking for this very thing. I responded to another YouTube video comment and did a web search for the “Dark” Ages. I have heard many times that it was the Catholic Church that kept the light during the darkness.
Having studies almost zero history I am ill equipped to discuss these matters, but I know it is my duty to defend the Faith and Christ’s Church.

Thanks for the link!

I’m also going to ask the local library to get a copy of
** How The Catholic Church Built Western Civilization **
by Thomas E. Woods Jr.
