Exactly. Division and confusion does not come from God.
 
The Church sometimes does change the way it looks at things. This is an acceptable definition of the term paradigm shift. Mr. Weigel also acknowledges this acceptable definition in this article. Yet he continues on a rant. That leaves me thinking that Mr. Weigel has an axe to grind, or he just doesn’t have anything better to write about than ‘click bait’ type stuff.

Going from walling-off Jews in ghettos to calling them “our older brothers in the faith of the One True God” isn’t a paradigm shift? Going from burning Protestants at the stake to calling them “separated brethren” isn’t a paradigm shift? Going from having an official executioner of Vatican City as late as the 1800’s, to being against the death penalty isn’t a paradigm shift?

Likely less of a paradigm shift than moving from thinking that history is merely a collection of impressions garnered from like-minded polemicists to accepting that history is comprised of real events and the actions of fallible and at least partially corrupt human beings.
