What are the main features in a Catholic understanding of the human person? Can you explain the main ideas and source their origins?
 
Not sure I understand your question.
Man is a 2 parter Body and Soul - it is the Soul which is in the image of God. Man was certainly endowed with some reason but my understanding is man’s largest asset is knowledge which came from God as punishment. Man’s original body may have been eternal? to match his soul but that was also lost to punishment. Man is called to obedience to God and charity to man ( 10 commandments). I guess I do not understand your question

Yes, Man is made in the image of likeness of God.
That’s straight from the Bible Genesis Chapter 1
Genesis 1:26-27:
Then God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground.” God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them.

Well there are two of the main features in a Catholic understanding of the human person-
  1. Man is made in the image and likeness of God.
  2. Man is endowed with reason
  • what else can we say about man from Catholic teaching?
In this thread I wanted us to discuss the Catholic concept of the human person. To outline and explain the main features in a Catholic understanding of the human person.
