The Church of Atheism loses round 1 in Canada

I find it rather contradictory. In my experience, atheists never have anything good to say about religion, so for them to start their own church is superfluous.
 
There we go. This finally ends the “atheism is a religion” trope, right?
 
Good. I know some atheists, that are actually rather flabbergasted by these groups, and I think that some of them would definitely agree with the decision that was made here. I don’t understand, what the point of atheists being, pardon the expression, Evangelistic at this point. What in the world is the point? How is it hurting you if I’m wrong about something? I don’t believe I am, but if someone is atheist, why should they care? As a Christian, I have a mandate to make sure that you hear the gospel, what such atheist mandate is there?
 
By definition, religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. How can atheism ever seek to or want to be such?
