The "Clown Priest" is so 80s. Anyone up for a "Punk Priest?"

I do have to hand the Punk Priest one thing, though: in his writings, I don’t find any glaring heresies, and he does seem to make an effort to state what the Church teaches, though he does confuse a few things (e.g., I think he could present more accurately the Church’s teaching on salvation for non-Christians).

Seems to me that “punk” is an expression of anti-authority, so a “punk” priest is an oxymoron
It’s not really an oxymoron. Anarchists are anti-authority. Punk is more a rejection of society and worldly values, kinda like Christianity.

I’m kinda torn on this one. He does seem orthodox to me but I have a real problem with his presentation, it’s everything I think is wrong with how a lot of Christian groups are trying to attract the youth.
There are times when I don’t agree with how Evangelicals try to present Christianity by trying to make it more “contemporary”, but that’s more because I also don’t agree with their teachings, not just how they present it.

That being said, one has to remember that some of the saints took to presenting Christ rather differently in their days. Now, we might view them as perfectly normal, but in their days, they were considered “wacky” and even “progressive”. One only has to look at St. Francis of Assisi, or St. Philip Neri, who in their days were considered rather “revolutionary” in presenting Christ to the people. If this priest is orthodox in his views, then that should be that truly matters. He might not look like your typical priest, but remember the saints who also went this route–they took a risk, but they brought people closer to Christ and His Church.
