The Catholic Church is one Church with two “lungs” the Western Rite (Roman) and the Eastern Rite. The Eastern Rite has twenty-two Churches as part of it and the Coptic Church is one of them. All of the twenty-two Churches in the Eastern Rite hold valid Sacraments. A person from the Roman Rite can receive Holy Communion in the Eastern Rite without permission and the Sacrament of Reconciliation (as we call it in the Roman Rite). However, a person from the Roman Rite needs permission to be married in the Eastern Rite.
All the Sacraments in the Coptic Church are valid sacraments as well as all other Eastern Rite Churches. However, the Eastern Orthodox Churches are not in communion with Rome and one may receive Sacraments from them only in emergency cases.
