You may be thinking of divergent circumstance. Obedience of certain conscience is applied universally, outside the Church. However. part of our faith in the Church is to have enough faith to accept at least with the assent of will that which the Church has declared as dogma. A person who cannot do that for the sake of conscience has a deficiency in the Catholic faith that should be addressed first, or is not a Catholic.

I often think that I am the only one who holds, the opinion[ vanity most likely] I am about to express, but surely there are others. We were told by Christ right from the beginning, that the future would only bring decay, rife, hatred and spin. Our instructions were or are, just to simply to carry on. That certainly doesn’t mean that you can’t have opinions, your thoughts are simply a bellwether of where you are now spiritually.
Someone remarked that there is always a crisis. This is true, and most likely always will be. There will always be turmoil as the church is full of sinners, some of which have the best intentions, some who don’t, and then there is a large silent segment that simply go forward. This silent group are the ones we should focus on from time to time. They do occasionally speak up when the rivers of opinion present themselves in such a way that they can express themselves without vanity or agendas. [I don’t claim to be a member of such an august crew as that!]
The principles of conduct and obedience are unchanging. We are called to observe and adhere to these. I am not smart enough to know if arguments on either side of these “issues” merit public discussion or not. It seems as if God’s plan is woven so intricately, that I cannot begin to judge the opinions and different sides that get brought up in these forums.
One thing I do know though, I and hopefully, all of us, should regularly immerse ourselves from time to time in our core ethics and commandments. We are instructed to continually examine ourselves and our motives and apply the commandments to those actions. We are called to continuous prayer and discernment. If we all did these simple things, there would not be any crisis at all.

It is reasoning, not source. The Catechism explains primacy of conscience, and the important of forming a conscience. However, one must first believe the Catechism to believe he must form a conscience. I first heard of the priority of accepting the Catholic faith before one can form a Catholic conscience from a Mark Shea book, “By What Authority.” In it, he makes the argument that instead of debating points of the Catholic faith, the first debate must be whether one accepts the Catholic Church authority, that of the Bible alone, that of one’s own inner voice, or that in which one was raised.

My small point is that considered Church membership is also a practical judgement of conscience. Hence it is not immune from being objectively mistaken. I cannot see why a time may come when a later corrected understanding of the assumed grounds for joining may not lead to a crisis of faith. Especially if basic teachings re the nature of God or Jesus or a major moral teaching are later flu d to be otnerwise. That of course is unlikely if one joined with sufficient education and research. However it cannot be ruled out as a matter of universal principle from what I can see.
