the "d" word

no no, I’m sorry guys. I’m talking about the English word " damn". In German it’s verdammt. “Damit” just means “with this/that”. Sorry about the confusion…

And exactly what does that word mean in English?
 
well, yeah, it makes sense. But does it make it right to talk like this? I mean I’ve dropped bad words before when I got mad or the likes, I’m just concerned that my kids get the wrong idea about what’s right and what’s wrong. Teachers should be role models too, right? I just worry about the decline of language over here, that’s all. Thank you for your (name removed by moderator)uts, all of you. God bless

It just doesn’t bother me much. I lived in Europe for some years, and what i really admired was that while general “cussing” was socially acceptable, it was NOT acceptable to swear against doG. Now, I have noticed that, especially down here in The South, people really get their panties in a bunch over language.

It’s just a matter of assimilating into your culture. If you were here, and your kids’ teachers were talking to them like that, I’d worry. In Germany…meh…no big deal. Make sense?

It means “by that”.
For example, “was meint er damit?” means “what does he mean by that?”
