I have read the original book when it was first released here in Australia and as a practicing Catholic I treated it as pure fiction and enjoyed the book.All the atheists and Catholic Bashers have seized on it as some sort of fact. An unbelieving friend of mine contacted me and thought he had made some momentous discovery to back up his beliefs,but I quickly told him the facts.
